Portfolio, Enterprise and Internship
You might have noticed something different about my website. It is broken down into 3 sections: portfolio, enterprise and internship. Each of these will lead to a different aspect of my design career thus far.
PORTFOLIO
My portfolio goes in to depth on my work as a student at Texas State University. Through my time in the classroom I discovered my passion for branding and strategizing. This might be in part due to my minor in Mass Communications. I have been lucky enough to be able to learn both sides of the business.
ENTERPRISE
Enterprise will lead you to my hobby that has now become a small business. A birthday present for a friend back in December of 2016 has somehow turned into an extremely popular product; birthday sashes! From there I have grown to do other kinds of celebration sashes including bachelorette, pageant, and birthday sashes for tweens (ages 8-14). Growing up my brother and I were taught to always be looking for creative ways to express ourselves and make money. His turned into Harris Automotive and mine turned into Darling Designs. Our poor mother is constantly having to keep up with our next idea to advance our enterprises.
INTERNSHIP
During the summer of 2016 I was lucky enough to stumble upon a graphic design internship at Kendra Scott Design in Austin, TX. I started my time there in an 8 week internship program hosted by the HR department, and was asked to stay on after the summer ended. This led to the most influential 11 months of my design life so far. I always joke that I learned more at my cubical overlooking Austin than I have in a classroom. Having the chance to shadow and co-design with talented designers and artists was by far the most valuable time of my design education. During my time at Kendra I had the pleasure of working on ads, line lists, social media collateral, and just about anything else they threw my way!
